Who brought the throne of Bilqis?

Who brought the throne of Bilqis?
Balkis (Queen of Sheba)

Quote:

Allaah has given the jinn powers that he has not given to humans. Allaah has told us about some of their powers, such as the ability to move and travel quickly.
An ‘ifreet from among the jinn guaranteed to the Prophet Sulaymaan (peace be upon him) that he would bring the throne of the Queen of Yemen to Jerusalem in a moment faster than that needed for a man to get up from where he was sitting.
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
An ‘ifreet (strong one) from the jinns said: ‘I will bring it [her throne] to you before you rise from your place (council). And verily, I am indeed strong, and trustworthy for such work.’ One with whom was knowledge of the Scripture said: ‘I will bring it to you within the twinkling of an eye!’ – then when Sulaymaan saw it placed before him, he said, ‘This is by the Grace of my Lord…’” [al-Naml 27:39-40]. http://www.islam-qa.com/en/ref/2340/jinn

We are told:
Quote:
Solomon asked the jinns in his employ whether anyone among them could bring her throne to he palace before she arrived. One of them said; "I will bring it to you before this sitting is over." Solomon did not react to this offer; it appeared that he was waiting for a faster means. The jinns competed with each other to please him. One of them named Ifrit said: "I will fetch it for you in the twinkling of an eye!"
No sooner had this one - who had the knowledge of the Book - finished his phrase than the throne stood before Solomon. The mission had, indeed, been completed in the blinking of an eye. Solomon's seat was in Palestine, and the throne of Bilqis had been in Yemen, two thousand miles away. This was a great miracle performed by one of those sitting with Solomon.” [end of quote]

Quote:
...When the King came to know of her departure, he ordered one of the Jinns to bring the magnificent throne of the queen in the twinkling of an eye. The command was obeyed immediately. When the queen arrived at the court of Prophet Sulaiman (peace be upon him) after a long journey, she was asked to identify her throne. She recognised the throne and said:
"I am already aware of your power and majesty. I have come to you as your submissive servant." source: Here

We are led to believe
That a Jinn(Ifrit) brought the throne of Bilqis

One of them named Ifrit said:

"I will fetch it for you in the twinkling of an eye!"

Who brought the throne of Bilqis?

Nobel Quran: AL-NAML
(THE ANT, THE ANTS)
27.38

Translation: YUSUF ALI: He said (to his own men): "Ye chiefs! which of you can bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?"
PICKTHAL: He said: O chiefs! Which of you will bring me her throne before they come unto me, surrendering?
SHAKIR: He said: O chiefs! which of you can bring to me her throne before they come to me in submission?

27.39
Translation: YUSUF ALI: Said an *'Ifrit, of the Jinns"I will bring it to thee before thou rise from thy council: indeed I have full strength for the purpose, and may be trusted."
PICKTHAL: A stalwart of the jinn said: I will bring it thee before thou canst rise from thy place. Lo! I verily am strong and trusty for such work.
SHAKIR: One audacious among the jinn said: I will bring it to you before you rise up from your place; and most surely I am strong (and) trusty for it.

27.40
Translation:
YUSUF ALI: Said *one who had knowledge of the Book: "I will bring it to thee within the twinkling of an eye!" Then when (Solomon) saw it placed firmly before him, he said: "This is by the Grace of my Lord!- to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful! and if any is grateful, truly his gratitude is (a gain) for his own soul; but if any is ungrateful, truly my Lord is Free of all Needs, Supreme in Honour !"
PICKTHAL: One with whom was knowledge of the Scripture said: I will bring it thee before thy gaze returneth unto thee. And when he saw it set in his presence, (Solomon) said: This is of the bounty of my Lord, that He may try me whether I give thanks or am ungrateful. Whosoever giveth thanks he only giveth thanks for (the good of) his own soul; and whosoever is ungrateful (is ungrateful only to his own soul's hurt). For lo! my Lord is Absolute in independence, Bountiful.
SHAKIR: One who had the knowledge of the Book said: I will bring it to you in the twinkling of an eye. Then when he saw it settled beside him, he said: This is of the grace of my Lord that He may try me whether I am grateful or ungrateful; and whoever is grateful, he is grateful only for his own soul, and whoever is ungrateful, then surely my Lord is Self-sufficient, Honored.

And again...

Hazrat Sulai'man (AS) asked the jinns in his employ whether anyone among them could bring her throne to he palace before she arrived. One of them said; "I will bring it to you before this sitting is over."

Sulai'man did not react to this offer; it appeared that he was waiting for a faster means.
The jinns competed with each other to please him.

'Ifrit, of the Jinns: "I will bring it to thee before thou rise from thy councilindeed I have full strength for the purpose, and may be trusted."

But

*No sooner had this * one *who had the knowledge of the Book - finished his phrase than the throne stood before Sulai'man.

The mission had, indeed, been completed in the blinking of an eye
Sulai'man's seat was in Palestine, and the throne of Bilqis had been in Yemen, two thousand miles away. This was a great miracle performed by one of those sitting with Hazrat Sulai’man (AS).

Tafsir Ibn Kathir - Quran Tafsir

(38. He said: "O chiefs! Which of you can bring me her throne before they come to me surrendering themselves in obedience (as Muslims)'') (39. An `Ifrit from the Jinn said: "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place. And verily, I am indeed strong and trustworthy for such work.'') (40. One with whom was knowledge of the Scripture, said: "I will bring it to you within the twinkling of an eye!'' Then when he saw it placed before him, he said: "This is by the grace of my Lord -- to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful! And whoever is grateful, truly, his gratitude is for himself; and whoever is ungrateful, certainly my Lord is Rich, Bountiful.'')

How the Throne of Bilqis was brought in an Instant

Muhammad bin Ishaq reported from Yazid bin Ruman:
"When the messengers returned with word of what Sulayman said, she said: `By Allah, I knew he was more than a king, and that we have no power to match him, and that we can gain nothing by being stubborn with him. So, she sent word to him saying: "I am coming to you with the leaders of my people to see what you will instruct us to do and what you are calling us to of your religion.'' Then she issued commands that her throne, which was made of gold and inlaid with rubies, chrysolite and pearls, should be placed in the innermost of seven rooms, one within the other, and all the doors should be locked. Then she told her deputy whom she was leaving in charge, "Take care of my people and my throne, and do not let anyone approach it or see it until I come back to you.'' Then she set off to meet Sulayman with twelve thousand of her commanders from the leaders of Yemen, under each of whose command were many thousands of men.

Sulayman sent the Jinn to bring him news of her progress and route every day and night, then when she drew near, he gathered together the Jinns and humans who were under his control and said:

(O chiefs! Which of you can bring me her throne before they come to me surrendering themselves in obedience (as Muslims)).''

(An `Ifrit from the Jinn said:)

Mujahid said, "A giant Jinn.'' Abu Salih said, "It was as if he was a mountain.''

(I will bring it to you before you rise from your place.)

Ibn `Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said, "Before you get up from where you are sitting.''
As-Suddi and others said: "He used to sit to pass judgements and rulings over the people, and to eat, from the beginning of the day until noon.''

(And verily, I am indeed strong and trustworthy for such work.)

Ibn `Abbas said: "Strong enough to carry it and trustworthy with the jewels it contains. Sulayman, upon him be peace, said, "I want it faster than that.'' From this it seems that Sulayman wanted to bring this throne as a demonstration of the greatness of the power and authority that Allah had bestowed upon him and the troops that He had subjugated to him. Power such as had never been given to anyone else, before or since, so that this would furnish proof of his prophethood before Bilqis and her people, because this would be a great and wondrous thing, if he brought her throne as if he were in her country, before they could come to it, although it was hidden and protected by so many locked doors. When Sulayman said, "I want it faster than that,

(One with whom was knowledge of the Scripture said: )

Ibn `Abbas said, "This was Asif, the scribe of Sulayman.'' It was also narrated by Muhammad bin Ishaq from Yazid bin Ruman that he was Asif bin Barkhiya' and he was a truthful believer who knew the Greatest Name of Allah.

Qatadah said: "He was a believer among the humans, and his name was Asif.''

Question: When Solomon (AS) asked his followers ‘who would bring the throne of Bilqis?’ an ‘Ifrit told him he will bring it before he rises from his place.

However, a human being brought it to him in the blink of an eye.

Will you please give me details on how the man did this?

Tay al-Ard : - literally "folding up of the earth" is the name for Thaumaturgical Teleportation in the Islamic religious and philosophical tradition.
A type of karamat in which instead of moving toward a destination by taking a step forward, the earth turns toward the traverser rapidly, no matter how far the destination be.
Ibn al-Nadim defines it exactly the same way when he says:
“The concept of Tei al-Ardh has its roots in the following verses of the Chapter al-Naml of the Quran: [Qur'an 27:38] [Qur'an 27:39] [Qur'an 27:40]

A precise definition of Tai al-Ardh has been offered by Allama Qadhi, one of the masters of Allameh Tabatabaei:
"The ceasing and termination of matter in the initial location, and its appearance and re-creation in its final location (destination)"

A hadith by Ja'far al-Sadiq (d.148AH) also confirms that Hazrat Sulai'man (AS) transports the throne by Tay al-Ard in specific.

A hadith by Muhammad al-Baqir e.g. is narrated in which he attributes the aforementioned esoteric knowledge of Asif ibn Barakhia to the Asma 'ullah or the "names of God".
Hazrat Asif ibn Barakhia knew only one letter of it, which enabled him to traverse the earth in the blink of an eye.
In these verses, Quranic interpreters unanimously agree that the "onereferred to is a human: one of Solomon's trusted aides by the name of Asif ibn al-Birkhia .

The point being that he is a human, not a jinn that has mastered "the knowledge of the book" by his effort and free will (al-Iktisab). The phrase "twinkling of an eye" is translated to mean in a very very short time, i.e. almost instantaneously.

Note: Hazrat Sulai'man (AS) sought to teach the jinn’s that they were not the only ones with the power and knowledge; he established that the humans had even greater knowledge and supremacy.

Prominent figures in Islam such as Hazrat Rumi (ra) for example, were believed to possess keramat, and writings from medieval Islam are full of stories and reports of certain individuals possessing such a trait.
Many other examples can be found in Attar's Tadhkirat al-Awliya (Biographies of the Saints), or the works of Ibn Arabi, as well as other similar chronicles.

Bayazid Bastami (d.260AH) has many such accounts, coloured with mystical flavours, surrounding his life. In one account, he was asked, "They say you walk on water?" "A piece of wood can do that too" he replied. "They say you travel to Mecca at night and return by dawn?" he was asked. "But a bird at flight can do that too" was his answer. "So what is the meaning of being human?" he was asked. "A human is he who does not fasten his heart to anything but God" came his reply. (Risalah Qashiriyah, bab 53. p.650)
In all such and similar accounts, a certain individual of unusually high rank Awliya is seen to have the ability to travel long distances in almost instantaneous amounts of time.

Asif ibn al-Birkhia learned certain knowledge, which led him to what is referred to as keramat. Muslims view Keramāt as special esoteric powers ordained to a few certain number of individuals (Awliya Allah).

Sufis call the concept tay al-makan ("folding of space"), the word "makan" (location) being used as a synonym for the word "ardh" (earth). Both words are Arabic in origin, and both words are part of the Persian lexicon as well.

Dhū al-Nūn Misrī (RA) (d.245AH) travelled extensively during his lifetime, from Egypt to the Maghreb, Antioch, Yemen and Baghdad – not to mention his being transported to Mecca through the rolling up of time and space (tayy al-ard).[ Kawkab, fol. 129b; Vie merveilleuse, p. 247.]

Ibn Hajar al-Haitami(d.975AH) (radi Allahu anhu) wrote in his Fatawa: "The number of those who said that if a Wali (saint) goes to a very distant place in the West (in a short time) after he has performed the evening Salaat and if the sun has not set there yet, he need not perform the evening Salaat for the second time at that place, are many."

Muhiyuddin Abu Muhammad Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani al-Hasani wa'l-Husayni (d.561AH) (RA) had spiritual powers to hasten to the rescue of those who called him in an hour of emergency or adversity even from afar, such as the hearing of a thundering shout that rang, to frighten away marauders who tried to molest and loot owners of a caravan in the desert of Samarakand, who, in their hour of peril, called and appealed for the aid of the Hazrat.
The miracles of Hazrat Ghousul Azam (ra) recorded are innumerable, when compared to other Saints.

Allama Sayyid Mahmud Alusi writes:

Shaykh al-Akbar said: Asif bin Barkhiya did Tasarruf with the throne of Bilqis. He made it disappear from its location and appear before Sulaiman ‘alaihis salam and nobody realised this apart from Him who knows everything. The time that it disappeared [from Bilqis] was exactly the same time as it appeared [before Sulaiman]. Everything happened in one moment of time. In chronological terms, Asif only performed one action because the accomplished people gain a state where their speech is granted immediate action by the announcement of “ Kun” by Allah”. [Ruh al-Ma’ani, vol.19, p.185]

Speed of Jibreel(AS)

When Ibrahim (AS) was Placed in Nimrod's Fire
Jibreel(AS)(angel) was near The Arsh (Throne) When Allah (SWT) Ordered Him To Go And Cool The Fire Of Nimrod So That He is Not Harmed.
He Left The Arsh (Throne) And Descended The Seven Heavens And Reached Earth In Time To Cool The Fire.
Also when Allah(SWT) Ordered  Jibreel (AS) To Quickly Go To The Heavens And Take A Lamb, Then Rush To Mina And Replace Ismail(AS)  With A Lamb Before Ibrahim(AS) Struck the Knife. He Did so before the Time It took Ibrahim(AS) to Raise His Hand to the Knife.
Also When the Brothers of Yusuf (AS) Placed Him in The Well with a Rope. As The Brothers were about to Throw Him in, Allah (SWT) Ordered Jibreel (AS) Go To Canaan And Save Yusuf (AS) Before He Landed At The Bottom Of The Well. He Reached the Well and Placed His Wings Underneath Yusuf (AS), Thus Cushioning his Fall.

 The Speed of  Light

The speed of light in a vacuum is 299,792.458 km per second . The Sun is 150 million km away from Earth and light takes just eight minutes and 20 seconds to travel that far.

00:08:20:00:00

186,000 miles per second

The greatest speed known to man today is the speed of light!

Our Galaxy – the Milky Way –

is bigger than we previously thought.

A new study shows it would take 200,000 years for a spaceship travelling at the speed of light to go across the entire galaxy.

Quote:

A faster-than-light (FTL) warp drive would arguably represent the most important invention of all time. In 1994, Miguel Alcubierre gave all of us hope as he found a solution within general relativity that would cause the necessary warping of space. But after nearly 30 years of further study, what does our current understanding of physics say about the feasibility of a warp drive? [Here]

Faster than the Speed of Light

Jibreel (AS) is an Angel created (with 600 wings) from Light who is capable of travelling unimaginable distances  in an Instant  faster than the speed of light.

 ---------------------------------------------------------------

Question?

Who can travel faster than

Jibreel (AS)?

 to be continued

In Sha Allah!
